WHERE TO SHOP IN VANCOUVER — 001 — NOISY NEST

Kicking off this overdue series with my favorite menswear destination in the entire city — Noisy Nest. Nestled in between Fairview/Kits area, this unsuspecting neighborhood is home to powerhouse streetwear with an emphasis on Asian brands and designers. I like to think I’m in the know with underground brands, but this shop consistently humbles me.

ARTIST FEATURE - TASHINGA GUMBIE

I met Tashinga back in November at the Held in Form x Noisy Nest launch party. Before I could compliment his fit, he complemented mine. Fairfax is Dead, Long Live MARKET:24!

The Fairfax is Dead Market:24 show was a huge success. We had around 200 attendees, 20 artists, and a diverse array of works from paintings and photography to mixed media art and fashion vendors. We brought together local community for art-gazing, networking, and meaningful conversation. So, a massive thank you to everyone who believed in this project, showed up, and helped make it happen.

Check out some of the pics from the event below, and stay tuned for more to come.

FIRE! ON FAIRFAX. FROM ASHES TO...?

According to reports, the fire spread from the historic Diamond Bakery, moving through the attic to an old jewelry shop next door that I can't even recall the last time was open. The destruction is poignant metaphor for the evolution of modern cities in a post-pandemic world that puts profits over human lives.
